It is pretty easy for most anyone to log online and make a little bit of money filling out surveys or writing articles.  But, these all require work.  Getting paid for actual work is fine, as pretty much everyone does that  every day at their regular job.  But, would you want to make money online even when you’re sleeping, vacationing, or even working at your day job?

That’s beauty of creating a passive income online.  To accomplish this will require a bit more work up front, but over time, you’ll be able to continue to have money coming in month after month.

One of the first steps is breaking your need to have money now.  If you are desperate for money now, then setting up passive income streams right now is probably not realistic, as you should focus on how to earn money online, any money.

Creating an online business that will have a passive income stream coming in month after month is a long term process.  Think of the snowball effect.  It starts as a really small snowball, but as it starts to gain momentum, the bigger it becomes.  It’s the same with an online passive income.  Plus, having one successful income stream allows you to set yourself up for selling more products to your current clients, and build off the success of your website.

Another great way to create a true residual income is to create a membership system.  Instead of getting one $97 payment which can indeed make you a lot of money, why not set it up to receive smaller and recurring payments?  Would you rather have $19/month for the next 2 years plus, or a single $97 payment?

By creating something where you can continually provide value, you can set yourself up to receive a lot of money every month.  At first, only getting paid $19 might seem like a waste of time, but after 5 months, you’ll have already made the $97, and everything after that will be money.

Also, another key to creating an online passive income stream is choosing a niche market that will be forever.  In marketing, this is called an “evergreen niche.”  Gardening, Child Raising, Pregnancy, etc will be around forever.  But, products like the Wii won’t be.  Sure, a website about Wii can make you a lot of money, but you won’t be making a lot of money off of it 5 years from now.

Picking the right niche and then creating a membership system based on monthly payments is the best way to go when setting up a long-term, passive income stream online.

There are many ways to make money online.  Some of them will require more work, but usually have a lot higher payouts down the line.  Others require you to do simple tasks allowing you to earn a little bit of extra money online each month.  Depending on how much work and time you’re willing to invest, this list below will help you to be able to pick which method is best for you to learn how to make money online.

Filling Out Surveys

Information is valuable and companies know that.  There are companies out there who will pay you to fill out surveys on various subjects, but usually on consumer items.  Be careful though, as some places charge you money to find great places to fill out surveys online.  Don’t spend more than you can afford.  You can also spend a bit more time and find some places that don’t require any money to sign up.

Affiliate Programs

One way that large and small companies can increase their marketing is by having someone else do the marketing for them.  Would you believe that you and I can be one of those people?  You don’t need a degree in marketing, you just have to sign up as an affiliate (for free!)  Amazon and eBay are some of the more popular affiliate programs for affiliate marketing, as thousands and thousands of people use those sites each day.  If you send people as an affiliate to Amazon, and they buy something, you get a commission.

Being an affiliate usually requires a little bit of work setting up websites and learning how to drive people to your websites, but once you learn that, it can make you some really good money.

Writing Articles

Bring out the journalist inside of you!  You don’t have to work for a newspaper or TV station to be a writer.  There are many places that pay you to write for them.  You can write on someone’s blog, other websites pay you on a per-article basis and also how much traffic comes to your site.  You can also be a freelance writer and write articles based on customer requests for articles.  All it requires to make money writing articles is being able to write well, and you can make some decent money online writing articles for people.

These are just a few of the ways to make money online, but they are each in different work-required ranges.  Filling out surveys requires almost no work.  Writing articles can require some work, but it also pays better than surveys.  lastly, setting up affiliate websites requires some technical skill, but once you learn the basics, you can make quite a lot of money each month, and it allows you to work from home online.

Can You Really Earn Money on the Internet?

Yes!  It is possible to make money online.  Will you be rich overnight?  Will your income start on auto-pilot with little-to-no work involved?  probably not.  But, if you’re looking to make a little bit of income, and overtime, grow it into a part-time or full-time income, then it is very possible!

Before venturing out to earn money online, you need to ask yourself the following questions:

1) How much work are you willing to put into making money online?

2) Do you just need some quick money or do you want a steady income stream?

3) Do you have realistic expectations of the possibilities of online income?

4) Are you ready to learn some new skills and ways of doing things?

You pretty much know what the answers to those questions should be.  The Internet isn’t a magical ATM machine that will give you money whenever you want.  But, if you put in some work, learn and execute internet marketing techniques, then you can begin to earn either some quick cash, or build your internet business into a long-term income opportunity.

When you start out, some things may be confusing.  You’ll see a lot of acronyms like SEO, PPC, AM, UAW, etc, and you may not understand them at first, but as you read and learn, you’ll begin to see how it is possible to make money online.

You may also find places that pay you to fill out surveys, fill out offers and other such opportunities.  Most of these are legitimate, but you will not be making a lot of money.  Some pocket change here or there, maybe enough for a trip to a fast food joint, but nothing that will change your life.

Another trap that people fall into with online income opportunities is that they aren’t willing to put the work in needed.  Of course everyone would love to work from home, make money doing work in their pajamas, but when it comes down to actually doing the work in your pajamas, you’re often sidetracked by video games, the kids, the TV, or just wanting to go outside.

Just because your work location is different, it doesn’t change the fact that it is work.  I want everyone to have the opportunity to be able to work from home, but if they aren’t willing to put the work in to do it, then online business opportunities aren’t for them.
