One of the first steps is breaking your need to have money now.  If you are desperate for money now, then setting up passive income streams right now is probably not realistic, as you should focus on how to earn money online, any money.

Creating an online business that will have a passive income stream coming in month after month is a long term process.  Think of the snowball effect.  It starts as a really small snowball, but as it starts to gain momentum, the bigger it becomes.  It’s the same with an online passive income.  Plus, having one successful income stream allows you to set yourself up for selling more products to your current clients, and build off the success of your website.

By creating something where you can continually provide value, you can set yourself up to receive a lot of money every month.  At first, only getting paid $19 might seem like a waste of time, but after 5 months, you’ll have already made the $97, and everything after that will be money.

Also, another key to creating an online passive income stream is choosing a niche market that will be forever.  In marketing, this is called an “evergreen niche.”  Gardening, Child Raising, Pregnancy, etc will be around forever.  But, products like the Wii won’t be.  Sure, a website about Wii can make you a lot of money, but you won’t be making a lot of money off of it 5 years from now.

One way that large and small companies can increase their marketing is by having someone else do the marketing for them.  Would you believe that you and I can be one of those people?  You don’t need a degree in marketing, you just have to sign up as an affiliate (for free!)  Amazon and eBay are some of the more popular affiliate programs for affiliate marketing, as thousands and thousands of people use those sites each day.  If you send people as an affiliate to Amazon, and they buy something, you get a commission.

Being an affiliate usually requires a little bit of work setting up websites and learning how to drive people to your websites, but once you learn that, it can make you some really good money.

Writing Articles

Bring out the journalist inside of you!  You don’t have to work for a newspaper or TV station to be a writer.  There are many places that pay you to write for them.  You can write on someone’s blog, other websites pay you on a per-article basis and also how much traffic comes to your site.  You can also be a freelance writer and write articles based on customer requests for articles.  All it requires to make money writing articles is being able to write well, and you can make some decent money online writing articles for people.

These are just a few of the ways to make money online, but they are each in different work-required ranges.  Filling out surveys requires almost no work.  Writing articles can require some work, but it also pays better than surveys.  lastly, setting up affiliate websites requires some technical skill, but once you learn the basics, you can make quite a lot of money each month, and it allows you to work from home online.

Before venturing out to earn money online, you need to ask yourself the following questions:

1) How much work are you willing to put into making money online?

2) Do you just need some quick money or do you want a steady income stream?

3) Do you have realistic expectations of the possibilities of online income?

4) Are you ready to learn some new skills and ways of doing things?

You pretty much know what the answers to those questions should be.  The Internet isn’t a magical ATM machine that will give you money whenever you want.  But, if you put in some work, learn and execute internet marketing techniques, then you can begin to earn either some quick cash, or build your internet business into a long-term income opportunity.

You do not need to quit your job in order to earn money online using eBay.  If you just spend an hour each night, and maybe a few hours on your weekend, processing and shipping orders and creating new auctions, you can make a decent part-time income.

It doesn’t matter what area of the country you live in (or even what country you live in).  Age, social status, etc doesn’t matter to eBay.  As long as you ship the items people win in your auctions, you’ll continue to grow in popularity on eBay, and become one of the PowerSellers listed above.

There is always someone out there who is willing to buy whatever you put up for auction.  Create a nice looking auction and sell stuff for a reasonable price, and your online eBay business can be off and running.  The key is to follow through on shipping the items, and you can continue to make money with eBay.  Whether it’s a little bit of extra cash, a part-time income, or even a full-time job for you, eBay can be a great way to make money online.

We need to learn to avoid these scams.  Just like there are many scams offline (think the Madoff scandal) there are just as many, if not more, make money scams online.  While there are great opportunities online to make some extra cash, you just have to be careful out there on the internet.

Be sure to avoid the sites that promise quick riches.  I’ve been around in the online marketing world, and quick riches don’t just happen.  Yes, there are people make many thousands of dollars a day, but they didn’t start that way.  It took a lot of work to build their infrastructure and a lot of time to get to where they are today.

Also, be weary when a site doesn’t tell you exactly what you’ll be doing to make the money.  Obviously, sites won’t give away all of their secrets, but they should give you a general idea of what it will take to make the money they are claiming.  You don’t want to be doing something that goes against what you believe in.

Also, the best idea is to find one method and run with that one.  There are many different ways to make money online.  But if you’re trying all of the different systems you find, you won’t be able to put enough focus into one of them, so they all will suffer.

Also, don’t jump right in and pay money for something.  Look around online a bit and see if someone gives you the information for free.  There are a lot of helpful make money online blogs out there and that can give you some of the information for free without having to pay. Also, another thing to stay away from is the people running a data entry scam.

Definitely don’t spent money to fill out surveys.  This is a huge scam, and people end up losing money this way.  There are plenty of free get-paid-to-fill-out-survey sites and legitimate paid surveys out there, that you don’t need to pay someone to find them.

All in all, use your best judgment.  As the old mantra goes, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”  Don’t let your desire for more money cause you to lose money!
